Holas !
Training, training, training... that's what I do best!
Almost 30 years of combined experience as a former professional player as well as the numerous clinics, seminars, and licensing courses I've taken; almost 15,000 players that I have trained and or coached, along with 10 years of experience as an instructor, make my job really easy. I have trained more than a hundred teams in different cities of the Central Valley, such as Manteca, Modesto, Merced, Turlock, Stockton, Lodi and Galt. I have also expanded my training to Tracy, Dublin, Walnut Creek, Concord, and San Jose. I am currently coaching the Manteca FC Pumas Silver U-13 Girls; Training Stockton Flames U-10 Boys and Flamess '00 U-10 Girls.
My area of expertise is the technical aspect of the game, but I service players in different areas, such as conditioning, body coordination, visualization and imagery. Along with my knowledge of the game, I often partner with a few experts in the field who happen to be great friends of mine. I have also helped analyze body mechanics, give recommendations and help with conditioning of other sports such as football, basketball and lacrosse. My services range from individual or team analysis, recommendations, private and group trainings as well as holding camps.
Thanks for your patronage!
See you on the field!
Coach Ernesto
Why a player needs individual training?
Simple: When a student struggles with Math or Science at school they have to go see a TUTOR. They stay after school and get the One on One they can't get in the regular class with the teacher. In soccer, I am that TUTOR . I am the one who asks the players why they can't perform a certain skill if the coach taught it already. My job is to evaluate them and make a plan or program, so they perform at the expected level or for some to reach a higher level... It might involve hours of footwork or hours of repetitions to build muscle memory..., but the results speak for themselves. It takes a great deal of dedication and sacrifice... the pay out is awesome !
here's the proof!!!
02/08/10 FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME...
His name... David Reyes: The story of a gifted kid.
..."Are you coach Ernesto?" -I heard the voice of this 187 pound chubby kid-.
"Yes, I am. What can I do for you?"
"My friend Chris told me you could help me become a good soccer player... I just started playing last month. I used to play Football my whole life ( No wonder he looked like a furniture dresser !!!), but I tried out for Modesto Ajax and I made the team, and I really like soccer. I want to be like Chris"...( My other trainee at that time made the State Team two years in a row, and later the Regional team).
"Well",- I said- "it is not going to be easy... and I am not going to make it easy for you either. For your information (I told him firmly), you are way behind everybody else!"
"They've been playing since they were 5 years old, travelled to different cities, and played against maybe the best in their age group... look, I will train you, but you have to promise that you will do EXACTLY as told! If you miss a day don't even call me, because I am not going to waste my time with you!"
"Do you understand?"
"I do..."
And what a WONDERFUL surprise... we started with an hour the first week, 2 the second one, 5 on the third , and 10 hours a week after a month of training. I came from Modesto to pick him up either from school or his house, right after his classes at Sierra High School in Manteca. We were hungry and thirsty, and we became "Honorary members" of one of the most visited fast food restaurants in town, because it was the quickest place to get something to eat due to the short amount of time we had before practice. I remember the time that right before training, David (after finishing his soda) asked me...
"Hey coach, are you going to finish your soda?"
"YEEESSSSSS !!!!", I said.
And to make the long story short I had to give him mine...
"Thanks coach... I love soda..."
I just looked at him...
We practiced every day of the week for a year and a half; even on my Birthday or his, in Easter or Thanksgiving, in Christmas or New years...
He committed from day one.. and so did I !!!
Tonight february 8, 2010... two years later after I met that chubby boy (well, he's not chubby anymore, because one of the deals was for him to lose 30 pounds in 4 months... and he did), I had the privilege to join David and his family in one of the most memorable moments of my life.
I witnessed how he signed the "letter of Intent' for San Francisco State University!
A true honor to be there with not only a GREAT soccer player, but an awesome kid, that I consider my son, not only for me, but my wife and my kids who love him dearly.
David is a living proof that ANYTHING can be possible, and to achieve what he accomplished it is not enough to like doing something..., but TO LOVE doing what you do. He sacrificed, showed dedication and commitment, and devoted his time to honor his parent's efforts.
For the LOVE of the game...
Good Luck, Son !
